What happened after Restaurant Makeover?
The Restaurant Makeover episode titled "Gippino's" aired on Food Network Canada on 2008-11-03, the fifth episode of the fifth season. The Rotten Tomatoes episode guide gives it the same general description it gives several other episodes that season: two restaurant industry top guns overhaul a struggling restaurant. No source read for this entry describes the owners, what was going wrong at Gippino's, the menu or decor changes, the budget, or the relaunch, so none of those details appear here.
Wikipedia's list of the show's renovated restaurants, which is compiled by editors and was used only as a pointer, gives the post-makeover name as Attilio's 1957 and adds a note that the restaurant closed because of a fire. The page attaches no date or citation to that note. A web search pairing the restaurant's names with a fire returned results about other fires in Toronto, and none of the result titles named Attilio's 1957 or Gippino's, so the cause and timing of any closure are not confirmed here.
A Google Places listing for ATTILIO'S 1957 at 2889 Dufferin St in North York, Ontario, read on 2026-10-19, is marked permanently closed. Google's data gives no closing date. The listing matches the post-makeover name from the Wikipedia list and the city, but no source read independently ties the Dufferin Street address to the Gippino's of the 2008 episode, so the address rests on that name match. Wikipedia's table also lists the restaurant as no longer open, which agrees with the listing.
What the sources show: a Toronto restaurant that aired under the name Gippino's in November 2008 was, according to Wikipedia's list, relaunched as Attilio's 1957, and a Google listing under that name was marked permanently closed when read on 2026-10-19. The sources read do not give an opening date for the relaunch, a closing date, the cuisine, or the reason the listing is flagged. A listing flag records that the business was reported closed to Google; it does not say when or why.
