What happened after Restaurant Makeover?
Le Cafe Vert was a Leslieville brunch and organic-food café in Toronto. Its episode, titled "Le Cafe Vert", aired on 2007-04-16 as the twenty-fifth episode of the third season of Restaurant Makeover, the HGTV Canada series in which a chef and a designer rework one restaurant on a limited budget and a short schedule, with the owners adding matching money. Rotten Tomatoes' season listing gives no description beyond the name, and Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants names chef Massimo Capra and designer Cheryl Torrenueva. No source read describes the problems shown on screen, the menu, decor or staff changes, or the relaunch, and no street address was found.
BlogTO's Deadpool column covered the café in January 2009, in an item that Wikipedia's list cites with the date January 19, 2009. BlogTO called it a once-popular Leslieville brunch and organic eats spot and reported that it closed its doors on January 12 with no announced plans to reopen. The item added that a sign on the door hinted the closure might be temporary, while rumours said otherwise, and that the owner had left a note on the front door thanking past customers. BlogTO described the café as one more restaurant that did not last long after its makeover, and it said nothing about what would replace it.
No later report of a reopening, a sale or a new tenant at the café's address was found, and no information from 2025 or 2026 was found. A Google Places search returned a business named Le Café Vert Urbain on rue Saint-Denis in Montréal, with a website and a current listing; that is a different business in a different city, and nothing connects it to the Toronto café, so it is not used here and its website is not linked. Wikipedia's list also marks the Toronto café as no longer open.
