What happened after Restaurant Makeover?
The restaurant aired as Ithaca Restaurant: the seventh episode of Restaurant Makeover's third season, first broadcast on 2006-11-13, set in Toronto. Rotten Tomatoes' episode guide describes it as the story of the once famous and busy Ithaca restaurant. Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants names Brad Long as the chef and Meredith Heron as the designer, and records Peridot Resto Lounge as the name after the makeover. That name change is the only documented outcome of the work in the sources reviewed. Rotten Tomatoes files the episode under the earlier name, while Wikipedia's list files it under the later one, so both names are kept in this entry. According to Wikipedia's article on the series, the owner's funds were matched up to $20,000 in the early seasons and up to $15,000 later, and most featured restaurants were in the Greater Toronto Area. None of the pages read describes the menu, decor or staffing changes, the owners or the relaunch, and nothing beyond them is added here.
On the later history, Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants carries a note giving 2014 as the year Peridot closed and saying the space is now Firkin on Bloor. A comment on an UrbanToronto forum thread, which also appears on a Skyrise Cities forum thread (neither page shows a date for it), reported that Peridot Resto-Lounge on Bloor, east of Yonge, had closed its doors. A Google Places listing for Peridot Resto.Lounge at 81 Bloor St E, Toronto, read on 2026-10-19, is marked permanently closed. The listing's location, on Bloor east of Yonge Street, matches the forum comment's description. A web search that day pairing the restaurant's name, its address, the earlier name and Firkin on Bloor returned further Toronto forum threads and business-closure lists, but nothing read independently confirms the Firkin on Bloor note, which therefore rests on Wikipedia alone. The listing does not say when the restaurant closed, and the 2014 year is not confirmed by a second source.
