What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Red Wagon Café, an East Vancouver brunch spot, appeared in the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives episode “Southern Staples,” which aired 2011-12-19. Vancouver Magazine's Hastings-Sunrise food guide, dated 2016-09-01, described it as a diner-inspired comfort-food spot at 2296 East Hastings Street, naming pulled pork pancakes and barbecue brisket with eggs and noting weekend lineups. Daily Hive reported on 2020-12-07 that the café had opened over the preceding weekend at 2128 East Hastings Street, the former home of Ipoh Asian House, and it called out pulled pork pancakes and tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. The café's own website, viewed 2026-10-19, says the business has been an East Van neighborhood spot since 2010 and moved in 2020 to a larger room a short distance from its first one. The site lists daily hours, including dinner service Tuesday through Saturday, says its meats are smoked, cured and prepared in house, and links to e-gift cards sold through Toast.
