What happened after Restaurant Makeover?

Restaurant Makeover (HGTV Canada / Food Network Canada) featured Roma Ristorante, a Toronto restaurant, in an episode that aired on 2008-06-16. The Rotten Tomatoes episode description says the owners of an Italian restaurant get much-needed help. Wikipedia's Restaurant Makeover table credits chef David Adjey and designer Cheryl Torrenueva with the episode and gives the location as Toronto. The episode is the 25th of 26 in the season 4 listing on Rotten Tomatoes. No source that was found describes the specific problems, what was changed in the menu, decor or staff, or how the relaunch went, so none of that is described here.

For the years since, only a lead exists. Wikipedia's table marks Roma Ristorante as no longer open with a note that it is under new ownership; it gives no date, address or new name. A Google Places lookup returned Cafe Roma at 807 St Clair Ave W in Toronto. Cafe Roma's website, retrieved on 2026-10-19, carries a 2026 copyright notice, describes a cozy Italian restaurant making nearly everything from scratch, shows opening hours for that day and links to an online reservation system. An OpenTable page for Cafe Roma lists eight reviews, the newest from 2025-02-02. Its address and website are therefore not used for this entry.

A web search for Roma Ristorante, the series and the St Clair address returned the Cafe Roma listings and pages about the series and about a different Roma cafe in Detroit, none of which linked the two. No news report about the ownership change was found. Wikipedia's table is a lead rather than a dated source.

A Google Maps search for Roma Ristorante in Toronto, checked 2026-10-20, returned no listing for it, and no website or recent review was found that day. Wikipedia's table of Restaurant Makeover restaurants lists Roma Ristorante as no longer open, with a note that it passed to new ownership.
