What happened after Restaurant Impossible: Last Call (Food Network)?
Spicy Affairs is an Indian restaurant at 84 King Street West in Oshawa, Ontario. Its episode of Restaurant Impossible: Last Call (Food Network), the spin-off of Restaurant: Impossible (Food Network) hosted by chef Aarón Sánchez and Toronto restaurateur Jen Agg, was titled “A Spicy Affair” and aired 2026-08-20. Food Network's episode gallery said the restaurant opened in 2013 and is run by a husband and wife.
The problems shown: Food Network reported that sales were down nearly 85 percent, foot traffic had dropped in a struggling downtown, and business leaned heavily on takeout. The dining room looked dark and worn, a jarred sauce went into the vindaloo, and the tandoor oven was old and cracked. The gallery also said communication between the owners had dwindled. TVmaze's episode guide described an owner avoiding the reality of a quiet dining room and growing bills.
What the rescue changed: According to Food Network, the team had three days and a $20,000 budget. It bought a new tandoor oven. Agg redesigned the dining room with new paint, grass-cloth wallpaper and an arch over the bar, and Sánchez created a Tandoori Feast Platter and a Tandoor Power Bowl. The owners edited the menu down, and the owner began making the vindaloo sauce from scratch. The restaurant's food truck handed out samples across the street to promote the reopening.
The relaunch: Food Network reported a grand reopening the evening after the food truck event, with a packed dining room and a strong response to the new dishes, while noting the owners still had a long road ahead.
On 2026-10-19 the restaurant's website listed the Oshawa address and phone number, a second location in Bowmanville, and links to an online ordering page run by a third-party platform. The website's page metadata showed its last edits in August 2023. The site says Spicy Affairs has won the Best Indian Cuisine award in Durham Region for 10 consecutive years. A Google Maps listing showed the Oshawa address as operational, and a Wanderlog listing showed weekly hours with Monday closed.
Food Network Gossip, a fan site that follows the show's restaurants, wrote on 2026-08-20 that the makeover took place in early 2026 and that reviews posted since then were mostly positive about the food and the choice of spice levels, with the few complaints focused on service. In October 2026, a Google Maps listing showed the Oshawa restaurant open Tuesday through Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. on weekdays and 2 p.m. on weekends until 9 p.m., and closed on Mondays.
