Angels Sports Bar had operated in Corona, California since 1992, built around the area's blue-collar customer base and drawing as much as $85,000 to $90,000 a month at its peak, according to owner Renee Vicary. By the time Bar Rescue's producers arrived for the show's very first episode, the business was losing roughly $4,000 a month and struggling to cover weekly payroll. Vicary had stepped back from daily operations, leaving general manager Wayne in charge; the show's producers found an interior that shared an entrance with an adjoining strip club, decor that blurred the line between the two venues, and a staff dressed and instructed in ways that leaned into that confusion rather than away from it. Recon visits turned up a broken credit-card machine paired with a $6 ATM fee, food served on cardboard trays, and a general manager who was on a break, playing pool, rather than attending to the floor.

Jon Taffer's team concluded the shared identity with the strip club next door was actively costing the bar customers, particularly women; the rescue's core move was a name change and repositioning as a whiskey-and-billiards concept, rebranded Racks Billiards & Bourbon. Behind the scenes, bartender training targeted pour consistency and drink-recipe knowledge, customer-service coaching addressed staff uniforms and presentation, and the general manager was let go during the episode after showing no interest in changing his approach. The bar's exterior and interior were redone to catch the attention of the roughly 17,000 vehicles a day that passed the location without stopping.

In the months after the episode aired, the newly rebranded whiskey bar reported improved sales and better reviews. That improvement did not hold: over time, the business drifted back toward its earlier name and habits, service and cleanliness standards slipped again on reviews, and foot traffic declined. The site eventually reverted to operating as Angels Sports Bar. Sources differ on the exact closure date -- Gazette Review places the permanent closure in 2017, while other coverage cites 2018 -- but both agree the business closed for good several years after its television appearance. Following the closure, the property sat vacant for a time before a fire damaged part of the building; more recent accounts describe the original structure as demolished.
