What happened after Kitchen Nightmares?
Diwan, an Indian restaurant on Shore Road in Port Washington, New York, overlooking Manhasset Bay and Mill Pond, opened in 1989, according to the Long Island Press's coverage published shortly after the episode aired. At the time of Ramsay's visit, filmed in June 2023, the restaurant was also running a separate Mexican menu out of the same kitchen, a dual concept the episode frames as part of its identity problem. The restaurant was featured in Kitchen Nightmares Season 8, Episode 10, airing December 4, 2023 as the second half of a two-part season finale paired with the Max's Bar & Grill episode in Long Branch.
Long Island Press reported that Ramsay's initial dining experience featured slow service and botched orders, and that he described the food as "dated," "uninspiring," and "disappointing," with dishes he found bland, oily, and not freshly made. As part of the relaunch, Ramsay implemented new health and safety measures, updated kitchen equipment, streamlined the menu, and replaced the restaurant's mixed Indian-Mexican decor with a look the show described as focused on authentic Indian vibrancy, while dropping the separate Mexican menu. The Diwan episode capped a run of four Long Island and New Jersey-area restaurants Kitchen Nightmares visited in the back half of its revived eighth season, following Love Bites in Saugerties, El Cantito in Yonkers, and Max's in Long Branch, according to trade press coverage tracking the season.
According to a Reddit thread on the restaurant summarized by the entertainment site Mashed, Ramsay's new menu lasted only a few days in practice once the production crew left, with the kitchen reverting some dishes toward its earlier approach. A Yelp listing for the Shore Road address, updated in July 2026, shows the restaurant continuing to operate with regularly posted weekly hours, and business listings describe it as still serving Indian cuisine at the same waterfront location more than three decades after it opened.
