What happened after Mystery Diners?
In the 'Party Monster' episode (aired 2013-05-03), owner George suspected his Coral Gables restaurant, George's On Sunset, was giving away far more free food and drink than any comp policy should allow, and he brought in Mystery Diners' undercover investigators to work a busy night shift and watch the bar and dining room closely. Cameras showed manager Danny and bartender Wayne pouring free rounds of alcohol and sending out complimentary plates to friends and regulars well beyond what the house allowed, turning the dining room into more of a party than a working restaurant on the nights they worked together. When George reviewed the footage, he let both Danny and Wayne go, then promoted server Ivan, who had been shown following the comp policy correctly and pushing back when pressured to give away extras, into the manager role to help restore control over the bar and kitchen.
According to Wikipedia's article on the series, citing its sources, Mystery Diners carries an on-screen disclaimer that its events may be staged or re-enacted for dramatic effect and has been described by a television critic as relying on implausible scenarios and unconvincing acting. A Google Places listing checked on 2026-09-08 marked the business, listed there as Georges On Sunset, permanently closed, with no current website or social media presence located for the restaurant to indicate any ongoing activity.
