Is Grumpy George Still Open? Kitchen Nightmares Update (Georgetown, TX)

The Grumpy George Pub & Grub, a British-style pub in Georgetown, Texas owned by Karen Soeffker, appeared in season 9, episode 8 of Kitchen Nightmares, "Grumpy George," which aired February 25, 2025, following a makeover filmed in October 2024. Soeffker's pub was a relatively new addition to the local dining scene, and, as shown in the episode, Ramsay found problems with the pub's execution of a British identity, its management and its menu. In an advance clip released by PEOPLE magazine, Ramsay is shown eating a dish billed as vegetarian and calling it "terrible" before discovering it contained bacon hidden in the brussels sprouts.

A Tripadvisor reviewer who visited the pub in January 2024, before the show's involvement, described the space as small, the reservation process as disorganized, and the menu selection as very limited, issues the makeover was meant to address. Ramsay's team updated the pub's decor, tightened the kitchen's execution of its British menu, and worked with Soeffker on day-to-day management and reservations. Following the relaunch, the pub kept its dart room, full bar and English pub staples such as fish and chips, shepherd's pie, bangers and mash, and a house "Grumpy Smash Burger," alongside a rotating selection of British and Irish beers.

Customer reviews on Tripadvisor since the relaunch have been mixed but generally positive: a reviewer who visited in February 2025, shortly after the episode aired, described the food as outstanding and the atmosphere immaculate, while a reviewer who visited in March 2026 rated the food merely adequate but praised the customer service and said her husband had wanted to try the pub ever since seeing its Kitchen Nightmares episode. As of research in September 2026, the pub's Tripadvisor listing showed current operating hours and reviews continuing to be posted, including one from April 2026, with no indication of closure.
