What happened after Hotel Impossible?

Hotel Impossible's Season 8 episode Alarmed in Alaska, which aired 2016-11-14, featured Hooligan's Lodge in Soldotna, Alaska. Google's listing for the address, 44715 Sterling Hwy, under the name Hooligans Lodging & Saloon marks the business permanently closed. A Yelp page marking the business closed, last updated in September 2025, likewise carries the property as closed, describing a roughly 33-to-41-room lodge that combined guest rooms with an on-site restaurant and bar. The Peninsula Clarion reported on 2015-01-20 that Hooligan's Lodging & Saloon, then owned by Molly Blakeley-Poland, owed more than $41,000 in overdue sales taxes, the largest amount among five Kenai Peninsula businesses named that month, and that the borough assembly had voted to protest renewal of the property's liquor license over the unpaid taxes; Blakeley-Poland told the paper she was working on a payment plan.

Roadtrippers and Tripadvisor both carry listings for the lodge without indicating current operation, and travel-industry booking codes for a Hooligans Fishing Lodge at the same address appear in older trade listings without recent updates. No source gives an exact closure date, and no fresher listing was found showing the property reopened or operating under new management. With Google's listing and a dated Yelp listing both marking the business closed, the lodge featured on the show is no longer operating at the Sterling Highway address, roughly a decade after Hotel Impossible documented its financial and operational problems there.
