What happened after Restaurant: Impossible (Food Network)?

Restaurant: Impossible (Food Network) traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for "Missing Pepper in Baton Rouge," which aired January 19, 2023, to help owner Yolanda "Yoli" Perrilloux keep Pimanyoli's Sidewalk Cafe and Catering open. The restaurant's name combined Yolanda's and her late husband Pepper "Piman" Perrilloux's, and Yolanda told the crew she had struggled to keep the business afloat in the years since his death. Filming took place in September 2022, according to a Chew Boom recap of the production, with the restaurant more than a quarter-million dollars in debt by the time Irvine and his team arrived for the standard two-day renovation and menu overhaul.

The episode's title referenced Pepper's nickname directly, framing his absence as central to both the restaurant's finances and the emotional weight of the rescue, since Yolanda had run the business largely on her own since his death. Irvine's team reworked the dining room and catering operation and helped Yolanda address the restaurant's finances, aiming to put the smokehouse-style cafe on a path to profitability before the episode aired. Chew Boom's recap described the crew spending two days rebuilding the dining room and refreshing the menu around the smokehouse's barbecue and Creole-inflected offerings, the format Irvine has used across the series.

The turnaround was short-lived. The Advocate reported in January 2023 that Yolanda announced the permanent closure of Pimanyoli's at its 14241 Airline Highway location, citing the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, rising costs from inflation, and a customer base that had not fully returned to pre-pandemic levels. Google's business listing for the address carries a permanently-closed designation consistent with that report. Yolanda had operated the business under the Pimanyoli's Sidewalk Cafe & Catering name, also known locally as Pimanyoli's Smokehouse, at the Airline Highway location for several years before the closure, and Facebook and Nextdoor pages tied to the business remained visible afterward as an archived record rather than an active storefront.
