What happened after Man v. Food?

Man v. Food's Rutgers University episode (aired 2009-12-09) sent host Adam Richman to R.U. Hungry?, a New Brunswick sandwich counter built around the Rutgers Fat sandwich tradition. The business traces to the Fat Cat, a loaded sandwich invented in 1979, and grew further in 1997 when student Darrell Butler created the Fat Darrell — chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks and French fries stacked with lettuce, tomato and marinara — which Maxim magazine later named the country's top sandwich. It operates near the Rutgers campus at 95 Hamilton Street.

Since the episode, the business has continued under the shortened name RU Hungry. A Yelp listing updated in June 2026 recorded more than 200 reviews and listed the business at the Hamilton Street address, and Google Places recorded an operational status on 2026-09-08. RU Hungry's own website, ruhungrynj.net, returned a broken 404 page when checked the same day, so current hours are best confirmed through Yelp or in person.
