What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

The Astor Hotel, on Elliot Street near The Hoe in Plymouth, was the first episode of series 6 of The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5), which aired on 2010-07-22 under the title The Astor, Plymouth. Ranker's entry for the episode describes a three-star, 62-bedroom hotel owned by Joseph Louei, who had run it for nine years without making a profit. It says Plymouth had many cheap chain hotels and that the Astor had a string of poor online reviews. Wikipedia's episode list says Alex Polizzi found conflict with the owner. Neither source lists an outcome.

The Caterer reported that the Plymouth hotel coached by Alex Polizzi had closed with 12 job losses and would be marketed for sale immediately. The trade magazine said the hotel had been running at a loss for some time and that trading it through the winter was judged not commercially viable. The page carries no date, but its wording about winter trading places it in the colder months. A Plymouth City Council licensing record lists the Astor Hotel at 14-22 Elliot Street, The Hoe, Plymouth PL1 2PP.

A Google Places lookup for the name returned Astor House, an iQ student accommodation building at 163 Notte Street, Plymouth PL1 2AQ. That is a different name and use, and this entry does not treat it as the same business. No source read shows a hotel trading under the Astor name after the closure The Caterer described, and a web search run on 2026-10-19 for the hotel found no newer report of it reopening.
