What happened after Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares?
The Fish and Anchor was a restaurant and bar in rural West Wales near Lampeter, owned and run by former boxer Mike and his wife Caron, when Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (Channel 4) aired its episode on 2007-12-04. TheTVDB's listing for the episode gives that outline.
The problems: According to Wikipedia's episode list, the couple's constant arguing put customers off. Mike had no formal training and had built a complicated menu out of celebrity cookbooks. On the service shown, half the diners went unserved, and Caron asked some customers to leave.
What the rescue changed: Ramsay took away the cookbooks and the exotic dishes and added an authentic meatball dish. He set up a punching bag so the couple could let off steam, and he had them promote the new menu around town.
The relaunch: The list says the reopening service was halted when a waitress fell and was taken to hospital, so the first night did not run to plan.
The revisit: By the follow-up, Mike had repainted the walls white, business had roughly doubled, and the couple had stopped arguing, according to the list. Ramsay phoned recent customers to confirm the improvement and gave the couple a blank cookbook, a nod to the way the original menu had been put together.
Reality TV Revisited, a show-tracking site, reported that the Fish and Anchor closed in 2008 and that the building, listed for sale at £295,000, was sold in 2009. The Pint of History pub-history project for Wales records the pub, also known as the Abercerdinen Inn, near Llanwnnen, as sold in 2009 and open under new management in 2011. Reality TV Updates wrote in a 2023-08-10 update that the business had since closed again and that Street View imagery showed the building apparently being used for storage.
