What happened after Bar Rescue?
The Kasbah was an Aurora, Colorado nightclub that had shifted from an older clientele to a younger, hip-hop-oriented crowd without updating its operations to match, leaving it with a reputation among patrons for altercations and lax door security by the time Jon Taffer visited for "Jon T, He Don't Like It." Recon and stress-test footage showed an untrained bar staff, oversized food served in styrofoam containers, and security guards who missed alcohol planted on patrons during pat-downs; when guard Ron missed the item during a pat-down, owner Shelton fired him on the spot. A chef who arrived intoxicated and belligerent during the stress test was also let go by Shelton before the night was through.
Taffer brought in a security specialist alongside the usual bar and kitchen experts, an unusual third-expert arrangement for the show. The team cut portion sizes, moved food service from takeaway containers to plates, improved dance-floor lighting, and trained security to search patrons properly and defuse fights. The relaunch went well enough that the door team caught alcohol and drugs before they reached the floor, and Taffer kept the club's original name rather than rebranding it. Roughly four years later, on a Season 7 "Back to the Bar" revisit, Shelton told Taffer he had paid off his debts, grown The Kasbah into a profitable business, and gone more than two years without a security incident, with plans to eventually hand the club to his son and retire to Florida.
The Kasbah continued operating at 15373 East 6th Avenue for close to a decade after the episode aired. Yelp's listing for that address was updated in May 2026 and marks the business as permanently closed, and the fan site Reality TV Updates attributes the closure to the pandemic period rather than a return to its earlier operating problems. For the follow-up special, Taffer visited the club in person rather than sending one of his usual experts to check on it, a departure from his typical routine that underscored how far the operation had come since 2013.
