What Happened to The Olde Stone Mill After Kitchen Nightmares?

The Olde Stone Mill occupied a converted mill building in Tuckahoe, New York that owner Dean Marrazzo had renovated largely by himself, which is precisely what concerned Ramsay: a dining room this attractive should not have been sitting empty. As shown in the episode, Dean had no prior restaurant experience, a short temper, and a chef, Mike, who admitted on camera that he had lost his enthusiasm for the job. Ramsay's tasting found a risotto that had been overcooked to a puree, a papillote dish he said his young daughter could cook better, and a chopped salad pressed into an odd funnel shape that he could barely finish.

Much of the visit became a standoff between Ramsay and Dean, who pushed back on nearly every criticism of the food. Sitting down with Dean and his wife Barbara, Ramsay drew out a number Dean had kept from her: roughly half a million dollars in accumulated debt. Ramsay's changes centered on a simplified menu and on pressing Dean to accept that his own standards, not his customers' taste, were the restaurant's real problem. A fan site, rescueshowguide.com, places the closure of the Scarsdale Road restaurant in 2009, about two years after the October 2007 broadcast, and reports that the building was later reoccupied first by an Italian restaurant, and then, as of late 2022, by a different business under another name; neither successor was independently confirmed. Dean's half-million-dollar debt, the central financial problem the episode identified, was not resolved through the relaunch alone, and no later reporting on Dean or Barbara Marrazzo was found.
