What happened after Bar Rescue?
Barlow's operated in Tucker, Georgia under owner Susan Wood, who took control of the bar as part of a divorce settlement. By the time Bar Rescue arrived, the business had never turned a profit. Wood had partnered with a businessman, John, to add a kitchen, but ticket times stretched past an hour and customers left frustrated. Staff drank and played pool on shift while Wood looked away, and the bar's food-safety practices were poor, with a leaking refrigerator and moldy produce found during inspection. Undercover patrons sent in ahead of the visit found flat, foamy beer and a burger made from processed tube meat.
Surveillance also caught two bartenders giving away large amounts of free alcohol, and one was found to have been pocketing cash; she was fired as a result. Consultant Jon Taffer brought in mixologist Russell Davis and chef Tiffany Derry to retrain the staff, replacing the tube-meat burger with a hand-formed version made from fresh ingredients and teaching a set of Southern-inflected cocktails and dishes, including chicken and waffles. The kitchen was professionally cleaned to remove mold contamination, and part of the renovation budget came from selling off underused bar equipment.
As part of the physical rebuild, the show renamed the bar from Barlow's to The Comeback Sports Bar & Grill and installed a negative-air-pressure system to manage smoke, since the bar had operated with separate smoking and non-smoking sections. The relaunch drew a positive early response. Three months after the visit, Wood was running day-to-day operations while John managed the books, and the previously fired bartender was not rehired. The Comeback kept Taffer's chosen name and remained in business for roughly four years. According to Reality TV Updates, the bar closed in October 2017 after the property was sold to new owners, and by that point its Yelp rating had fallen to about 2.5 stars.
The same source reports the storefront was later occupied by a different bar, The Bottleship Lounge. Separately, owner Susan Wood moved into local politics, winning a seat on the newly formed Tucker City Council in a 2016 election, according to reporting the fan site cites from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
