What happened after Food Paradise?
In the Season 9 episode 'Extra Cheesy', the show featured Big Cheesy, a New Orleans counter serving gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches built with specialty cheeses on artisan bread. The concept, known locally as The Big Cheezy, operated as a casual counter-service spot with more than one New Orleans location. According to Yelp, the location at 422 South Broad Street is marked permanently closed, with the listing most recently updated in August 2026. Yelp also lists a second Big Cheezy location, at 5101 Magazine Street, as permanently closed, per a listing updated in September 2025.
Neither location shows a functioning website or active ordering option. No source ties the business to a Bourbon Street address; a search for restaurants there instead surfaces an unrelated Cajun-Creole restaurant with its own current website, which is not the same business.

We work hard to keep every status accurate and dated, but restaurants change fast and our sources aren't perfect. If something here is wrong — a status, a name, an address, anything — tell us what you're seeing and where you saw it, and we'll check it.
