What happened after Man v. Food?

Man v. Food's Casey Webb visited Bill Spoon's Barbecue in Charlotte, a family-run restaurant that had served Eastern North Carolina-style whole-hog barbecue since 1963. Owner Steve Spoon Jr., who bought the business from the founder's family in 2006, continued the shop's decades-long tradition of slow-smoked pork and vinegar-based sauce. Since the episode, WCNC, WBTV, QC News, and Axios all reported the closure on September 16, 2020, after 57 years in business, citing a pandemic-era decline in customer traffic. The Serving Spoons Foundation, connected to the restaurant, had provided close to 4,000 meals to people experiencing homelessness in Charlotte over the years, according to Axios. A Yelp listing updated September 2026 for the South Boulevard address still marks the business permanently closed, with no reopening reported since 2020.
