What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Guy Fieri visited Butch + Babe's on the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives episode "Creative Creations" (aired 2019-12-27), spotlighting owner Kortnee Bush's mac-and-cheese pancakes and elote corn dogs at her Burlington, Vermont neighborhood restaurant. According to Seven Days, Bush opened the Old North End spot on 2014-12-26. Seven Days reported on 2021-08-24 that Butch + Babe's had closed permanently, with Bush citing "operational challenges" after the restaurant reopened for seated dining on 2021-07-08 but struggled with staffing shortages and the strain of potential future lockdowns tied to the Delta variant surge.
According to Seven Days, the restaurant had received about $350,000 in pandemic relief, including a $76,665 Restaurant Revitalization Fund grant, which Bush said had "kept us chugging along for a minute" but was not enough to sustain the business. Yelp's listing for the address, updated in April 2026, still marks the restaurant closed.
