What happened after Best Thing I Ever Ate?

David Burke Townhouse was featured for chef-owner David Burke's inventive, whimsical New American tasting-menu cooking inside a converted townhouse on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The restaurant operated as an intimate multi-course dining destination distinct from Burke's more casual concepts elsewhere in the city. A Yelp business listing, updated July 2026, marks David Burke Townhouse as permanently closed, and NYC Tourism's own visitor guide separately lists the restaurant as no longer operating. Burke has since concentrated his New York operations at other addresses; according to his restaurant group's website, chefdavidburke.com, his current New York projects include David Burke Tavern on the Upper East Side. No source dates a specific closure day for the Townhouse location, and no reopening or new tenant at 133 East 61st Street was found in the sources checked for this record.
