What happened after Best Thing I Ever Ate?
wd~50 was featured for chef Wylie Dufresne's molecular-gastronomy tasting menu, a New American and international restaurant on Manhattan's Lower East Side. According to Wikipedia (revised July 11, 2026), Dufresne opened the restaurant on April 9, 2003 at 50 Clinton Street, between Rivington and Stanton Streets, and its name combined the street address, the chef's initials, and a nod to WD-40. Wikipedia reports that wd~50 closed on November 30, 2014, attributing the closure to redevelopment plans affecting the building that housed the restaurant. No source describes a successor restaurant occupying the same Clinton Street address in the sources checked for this record, and Dufresne's later restaurant projects are not documented here.
