What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives featured Foster's Kitchen in the episode "Playin' Chicken," which aired July 6, 2018, spotlighting the restaurant's contemporary comfort-food menu. Foster's Kitchen operated in the Coconut Marketplace along Ali'i Drive in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, according to Wanderlog. Hawaii Magazine described Foster's Kitchen as a new restaurant bringing a fresh, surprising menu to downtown Kailua-Kona when it opened. A Yelp listing for the restaurant, updated in August 2026, lists it as temporarily closed, and a Nextdoor post from around the same period cites a planned reopening near October 1, 2026. Google Places separately lists the Ali'i Drive location's business status as temporarily closed in a September 2026 check. No 2026-dated evidence was found showing the restaurant has resumed regular hours or reopened ahead of the cited date.
