What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives featured Island Lava Java in the episode "Fusion of Flavors," which aired August 3, 2018, spotlighting its oceanfront American breakfast and coffeehouse menu. The restaurant sits along Ali'i Drive in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, overlooking Kailua Bay, and bills itself on its own site as the area's top American restaurant. According to the business's own website (islandlavajava.com), checked September 8, 2026, the restaurant still accepts same-day table reservations for birthdays and other events and posts current hours, including Saturday service from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The site also promotes private event bookings for occasions such as birthdays and rehearsal dinners, a service it continues to advertise today. Google's Places listing for Island Lava Java also marks the business operational at 75-5801 Ali'i Drive, matching the address given on the restaurant's site.
