Is Frankie's Still Open? Restaurant: Impossible (Food Network) Update

Restaurant: Impossible (Food Network) sent Robert Irvine to Frankie's, a pizza and Italian restaurant in Three Rivers, Michigan, for an episode that aired September 5, 2012. As shown in the episode, longtime friends Jay Woehrmyer and Tina Wyman had owned the restaurant for thirteen years and were looking to Irvine to help modernize a business that had fallen behind its competitors and had grown dated inside and out over more than a decade of continuous operation. Irvine's team gave Frankie's an extensive makeover: the dining room's walls were painted black, barn-door-style accents were added, rustic light fixtures went in, and the restaurant's original stained-glass windows were covered over as part of a broader redesign, alongside changes to the restaurant's pizza and Italian offerings meant to modernize the menu.

According to a local food blog, SW Michigan Dining, which has followed the restaurant since before the show aired, longtime customers were not fond of the Restaurant: Impossible changes, and over time the restaurant "went back to the old Frankie's," restoring lighter wall colors and the original stained-glass windows while keeping some of the show's rustic fixtures. The same blog reported in March 2024 that the restaurant had recently changed hands, continuing to operate under the Frankie's name at 56951 North Main Street under its new owners. Frankie's remains open under that name as of 2026.

Its own website, copyrighted 2026, lists a full current menu of pizza, grinders, pasta, and burgers along with posted hours for the North Main Street location. A Yelp listing for the address, updated in August 2026, likewise shows the restaurant as active rather than closed, with reviews continuing to accumulate at the same location where Irvine's crew filmed in 2012, with the pizza still built in a Chicago tavern style, cut into squares rather than wedges.
