What happened after Restaurant Takeover?

Fresh Sandwich Shop was the sixth episode of Restaurant Takeover (Food Network Canada) season two, aired on 2013-10-02. The series paired a chef with a designer to overhaul a struggling Ontario restaurant. TVmaze's episode page describes Kaylea, who opened the shop believing her dream of working as a chef was finally coming true. Seven months in, flaws in her business plan had left her short of cash, energy and inspiration. Chef Adam Hynam-Smith and designer Amanda Campbell were sent in to help her bring her vision to life and to attract the customers the shop needed to stay open. The synopsis also names renewing Kaylea's enthusiasm for cooking as a goal of the visit. TV Guide's season-two episode listing places the episode in Aurora, Ontario.

TV Foodies, a fan directory of TV-featured restaurants, lists Fresh Sandwich Shop at 14834 Yonge Street in Aurora, postal code L4G 1N2, as featured on the show. Its page, published and last modified on 2014-07-21, also gives a phone number, a website address and social media accounts for the shop. The page does not describe the episode or what the rescue changed, and no other page read for this entry describes a new menu, new decor, a new name or a relaunch.

No information from after the mid-2010s turned up. No news story, owner statement, dated customer review or current listing for the shop was found in the checks made for this entry. A Google Maps search for the name returned a business called Grandma loves you on Orchard Heights Boulevard in Aurora; its name and street both differ from the Yonge Street address, so it was not treated as the same business.

A Google Maps listing checked 2026-10-19 marks Fresh Sandwich Shop at 14834 Yonge Street in Aurora as permanently closed. The newest Google review on the listing is dated March 28, 2017, and the listing carries only ten reviews, the earliest from July 2013, around the time the episode was filmed.
