What happened after Man v. Food?
A 2011-07-20 episode (S4E9) featured this Portsmouth diner, a descendant of a historic 1940s lunch cart that has served burgers, hot dogs, and blue-plate classics from a fixed location on Fleet Street. A check of the restaurant's own domain, gilleysdiner.com, on 2026-09-08 found it no longer showing the diner's content, instead serving unrelated promotional material, and Google Places flags the business as temporarily closed. Separately, NH Business Review reported that developer Mark McNabb and his company, One Market Square, reached an agreement to buy the Gilley's Diner property, stating an intent to continue the diner's operations on site, and other current listings, including a Yelp page and an active Facebook page, show posted operating hours.
Despite the website change and Google's temporarily-closed flag, WOKQ reported on January 20, 2025 that the diner had reopened that month under new kitchen manager John Gray, following McNabb's purchase of the property and a period of closure. A Yelp listing updated in June 2026 showed the diner still operating, with 206 reviews and current posted hours.
