What the source shows: Trip.com now lists 23-25 Hope Road, Shanklin as Sunrise Hotel with guest reviews dated May and June 2026, one saying it is apparently under new management, while Odessia says Steve and his family recently took over management, and Visit Isle of Wight's Sunrise Hotel page carries photo captions reading Gracillie Hotel.

What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

Gracellie Hotel is a seaside hotel at 23-25 Hope Road, Shanklin, on the Isle of Wight, owned by Philip Wagstaff and his daughter Kelly Vincent. Isle of Wight Radio and the Isle of Wight County Press, in undated pages written around the 23 June 2022 broadcast, described a hotel of up to 50 rooms with a basement bar, restaurant, sun deck and pool. Philip bought it about twelve years earlier with no hotel experience, and the County Press reported it had made an annual profit only once in that time. TVmaze's listing for the Channel 5 episode (series 17, episode 2, aired 2022-06-23) says the hotel declined through poor management, Covid-19 and a family tragedy.

According to the County Press, Alex Polizzi helped with a three-month revamp ahead of the summer season: a refurbished balcony, redecorated rooms and front, an upgraded kitchen, reception and wifi, a new reception carpet at her request, and a reopened restaurant. The County Press quoted Philip describing her criticism as harsh but fair, and said the family planned to refurbish every room and add self-catering accommodation. Isle of Wight Radio reported that Polizzi called the family her favorite hoteliers to date. On 2026-10-19 gracellie.com, the website address on the hotel's Google Maps listing, returned a not-found error.

Trip.com lists 23-25 Hope Road, Shanklin PO37 6ED under the name Sunrise Hotel, with guest reviews dated from May to June 2026; a review dated 10 June 2026 said the hotel was apparently under new management. Odessia's page for the Sunrise Hotel, at 25-27 Hope Road, says it is run by Steve and his family, who took over management recently. Visit Isle of Wight's Sunrise Hotel page, which uses the same listing number as its earlier Gracellie Hotel page, carries photo captions reading Gracillie Hotel and lists 41 rooms. Expedia and Kayak keep the Gracellie Hotel name in their web addresses for the same hotel.
