What happened after Restaurant Makeover?

Higher Groundz Cafe was a small coffee house in Port Credit, the lakeside village within Mississauga, Ontario. Its episode of Restaurant Makeover, a series on Food Network Canada and HGTV Canada, aired on October 3, 2005, as the second episode of the second season. Rotten Tomatoes' season listing describes it as a small gourmet coffee house in the town of Port Credit and says nothing else about the place, its owners or its difficulties.

The series paired a chef with a designer to rebuild a restaurant on a small budget and a tight schedule, and TVmaze's listing for the show says the owners put up half of the funding. None of the pages read for this entry says what was changed in the cafe's menu, decor, staffing or name, or how the relaunch went, and no page read gives the cafe's street address. Rotten Tomatoes' season listing names six chefs among the season's hosts, Brad Long, Rene Chauvin, Lynn Crawford, Massimo Capra, Corbin Tomaszeski and David Adjey, but nothing read says which of them worked on this episode.

Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants says the cafe later became Raw Aura Organic Cuisine. Raw Aura's own website describes a raw-food restaurant at 94 Lakeshore Road East, Mississauga, serving food it says is never heated above 43 degrees Celsius (105 degrees Fahrenheit). Spinach Guide lists Raw Aura at that address with weekly hours, Tuesday to Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., and a data refresh date of October 11, 2026. An undated review on jameschatto.com describes a 22-seat raw vegan restaurant at that address that had opened about 18 months before the review. None of those pages mentions Higher Groundz Cafe, and none shows where in Port Credit the cafe stood, so the link between the cafe and the Raw Aura address rests on the Wikipedia note alone.

Wikipedia's table of Restaurant Makeover restaurants, read 2026-10-20, lists Higher Groundz Cafe in Mississauga as no longer open and notes that its space became Raw Aura Organic Cuisine. A Google Maps search for Higher Groundz Cafe in Mississauga the same day returned no listing for the cafe.
