What happened after Restaurant Makeover?

The Restaurant Makeover episode titled "Joe Boo's Cookoos" aired on Food Network Canada on 2008-11-17, the seventh episode of the fifth season. The Rotten Tomatoes episode guide describes it only in general terms: two restaurant industry top guns overhauled a struggling restaurant. Wikipedia's list of the show's renovated restaurants places the restaurant in Thornhill, Ontario, and carries no note about it. No source read for this entry describes the cuisine, the owners, the problems the restaurant had, the changes to the menu, decor or staff, the budget, or the relaunch, so none of those details appear here.

A Google Places listing for Joe Boo's Cookoos at 7241 Bathurst St in Thornhill, Ontario, read on 2026-10-19, is marked permanently closed. The listing name matches the episode title exactly, and the town matches Wikipedia's list. Google's data gives no closing date, and a listing flag is not a record of when or why a business stopped operating. Wikipedia's table, which is compiled by editors and was used only as a pointer, also lists the restaurant as no longer open. That agrees with the listing but adds no date or named source of its own.

A web search for the restaurant by name and street returned only pages about unrelated places in Australia and the United Kingdom. No news article, review, owner statement or archived page about Joe Boo's Cookoos itself was found. The record of what the makeover changed, how the relaunch went, and how long the restaurant operated afterward therefore rests on nothing beyond the episode title, the one-line guide entry and the listing.

Media in Canada described Restaurant Makeover at its launch as a Food Network Canada series in which two well-known industry figures take on a struggling restaurant and overhaul it. That general format is the only context available for this episode. The entry is placed on the map at the Bathurst Street address from the Google listing.
