What happened after Restaurant Makeover?

Karma's Café sits at 217 Hunter Street West in downtown Peterborough, Ontario. Its episode, titled "Karma's Cafe", aired on 2007-01-15 as the fourteenth episode of the third season of Restaurant Makeover. That series, shown on HGTV Canada, had a chef and a designer rework one restaurant on a limited budget and a short schedule, with the owners adding matching money; Wikipedia's page on the series says the match was originally up to $20,000 and was later lowered to $15,000. Rotten Tomatoes' season listing describes this episode only as set in the town of Peterborough, and Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants names chef Lynn Crawford and designer Glen Peloso.

None of the sources read for this entry describes what the episode showed: the owners' difficulties, the changes to the menu, decor or staff, or how the relaunch went. The café's own website does not mention the show. Its About page says the café opened in 2004, serves Himalayan and east-Asian fusion cooking, and has kitchen staff who have been there since the first day; it also says the café had been open almost 20 years. That page carries a 2021 copyright line and links to a myKawartha news story about how the café came to Peterborough, which could not be opened for this entry.

When the website was checked on 2026-10-19, the home page listed the Hunter Street address, a phone number and weekly specials of a thali on Wednesdays and thukpa soup on Thursdays. It carried a 2024 copyright line, and the server's last-modified header read 2024-08-17. The separate hours page, with a 2021 copyright line, lists lunch service Thursday through Saturday and dinner daily. None of the pages shows a date from 2025 or 2026, so the site is evidence of what the business offered rather than of its current schedule. A Google Places listing checked on 2026-10-19 marked the business operational at the same address. Wikipedia's list also marks the café as still open but gives no date or citation for that entry. No news coverage from 2025 or 2026 was found.
