What happened after Restaurant Makeover?

The Boathouse Restaurant, near Woodview in the Kawarthas of Ontario, was the subject of the episode titled "The Boathouse Restaurant", which aired on 2007-02-19 as the nineteenth episode of the third season of Restaurant Makeover. That HGTV Canada series had a chef and a designer rework one restaurant on a limited budget and a short schedule, with the owners adding matching money. Rotten Tomatoes' season listing describes the episode as a resort and lakeside landmark, and Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants names chef Corbin Tomaszeski and designer Meredith Heron.

No source read describes the problems shown on screen, the changes to the menu, decor or staff, or the relaunch. This entry connects the episode to the Boathouse Pub at Viamede Resort on Stoney Lake, at 603 Mt Julian Viamede Road, because a Google Places search returned that venue for the name and area and because a resort with a lakeside restaurant matches the episode description. No source read confirms the connection directly, and the Places name says Pub where the episode title says Restaurant. A resort directory page on resortsofontario.com dates the resort itself to 1885.

The website address attached to the Places listing ends /eat/the-boathouse/. When that address was opened on 2026-10-19 it displayed the resort's page for the 1885 Restaurant and Patio, which the page says is open only to guests staying at the resort, and it did not mention a Boathouse. The resort's dining menu on that page listed the 1885 Restaurant and Mount Julian BBQ options. A Google Places listing for the Boathouse Pub at the Viamede address, checked on 2026-10-19, was marked permanently closed; listing data does not give a closing date, and no news article or announcement from the resort about the Boathouse was found. Two directory pages describe the resort as having three restaurants without naming them, and neither shows when that text was written. Wikipedia's list also marks the restaurant as no longer open, with no date or citation.
