What happened after Restaurant: Impossible (Food Network)?

Restaurant: Impossible (Food Network) visited La Stanza, a family-run Italian restaurant on Oregon Avenue in South Philadelphia, for the second episode of season two, which aired July 13, 2011. The show's own social media announced the filming location in South Philadelphia ahead of the episode's production. As shown in the episode, the restaurant had operated for more than two decades under strain from family conflict and an unwieldy, oversized menu that had grown difficult for the kitchen to execute consistently, with on-camera interviews of regular customers describing slow service and inconsistent food quality over time.

Over the program's typical two-day rescue, Irvine's team pared down the menu, refreshed the dining room, and retrained the kitchen staff on food-safety practices, aiming to give the family-run business a more sustainable footing going forward and to ease some of the interpersonal friction shown among family members working there together in the kitchen and dining room. La Stanza did not survive long term. Passyunk Post, a South Philadelphia neighborhood news site, reported on June 6, 2016 that an Asian restaurant called Asian Palace was opening in the space La Stanza had previously occupied at 2001 W. Oregon Ave., indicating the Italian restaurant had already closed by that point.

Yelp's current listing for "La Stanza" at that address, updated in July 2026, marks the business as permanently closed. It is not confirmed here whether Asian Palace or another restaurant currently occupies the address, since neither could be verified against a dated 2026 source, and no further reporting on the location's current tenant could be located for this specific record during this research pass, despite the address being a well-documented South Philadelphia commercial corner near Broad Street, in a section of Oregon Avenue known locally for its concentration of small, family-run restaurants that have long defined the neighborhood's dining scene.
