What happened after Food Paradise?
Food Paradise (Travel Channel) featured Nick's Old Original Roast Beef in the 'Sandwich Heroes' episode, spotlighting its hand-carved roast beef piled on gravy-soaked Kaiser rolls with sharp provolone. Old Original Nick's Roast Beef is a South Philadelphia sandwich shop and bar that has operated on South 20th Street since 1938, according to The Infatuation, and the family later opened additional locations in Springfield and West Chester, Pennsylvania. Diners can add horseradish or banana peppers to the sandwich, according to The Infatuation, which also describes the fries as served smothered in the same gravy used on the roast beef.
According to Yelp, updated July 2026, the South 20th Street location remains active, with several hundred customer reviews posted at that address. Nick's continues to serve roast beef sandwiches from the South Philadelphia storefront referenced in the episode, according to Yelp's current listing.
