Part 1 — Season 7, Episode 11 Aired
Guy Fieri visited Louis Family Restaurant in Providence, Rhode Island, for the "Family Style" episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (Food Network), aired 2009-11-02. Louis Family Restaurant was a small diner opened in 1946 by World War II veterans Louis and Dominic Gianfrancesco, and it later passed to Louis's sons and remained family-run, according to WPRI. WPRI reported that owners John and Albert Gianfrancesco announced on social media that Louis Family Restaurant would close after nearly 80 years in business, with a final day of operation on December 31.
Yelp's listing for Louis Family Restaurant, updated June 2026, continues to mark the business "CLOSED" and permanently closed. A check of the restaurant's website, louisrestaurantri.com, returned no response on 2026-09-08, consistent with the reported closure. Neither Yelp's June 2026 listing nor the other sources reviewed for this record mention a reopening, relocation, or new ownership for Louis Family Restaurant since the closure.
Part 2 — Season 23, Episode 7 Aired
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited this Providence diner for its all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner specials — including the drunk Johnny omelet, granola pancakes, fish and chips, and barbecue chicken and cheese ravioli — in "East Coast Cruisin" (aired 2015-09-23). Louis Family Restaurant's own website describes the East Side diner at 286 Brook Street as founded in 1946 by World War II veterans Louis and Dominic Gianfrancesco and later run by brothers John and Albert Gianfrancesco. WPRI and GoLocalProv both reported that the diner was closing after nearly 80 years in business, and a Yelp listing updated 2026-06 now marks the Brook Street address as permanently closed.
