According to the Asian Journal, Olalia announced on August 28, 2020 that Ma'am Sir had closed, writing on Instagram, 'There will come a time when I can welcome you again.' The Asian Journal reported that Olalia, previously a chef at Patina and mar'sel at Terranea Resort, had also operated Rice Bar in downtown Los Angeles before closing it in 2019 to focus on Ma'am Sir.
