What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited Nye's Polonaise Room on the S13E12 episode 'Time Tested Treasures,' which aired 2012-02-27, spotlighting the Minneapolis institution's supper-club fare, piano lounge, and polka bar. Nye's Polonaise Room opened in 1950 in the city's Northeast neighborhood and operated for decades under owners Rob and Tony Jacob, who bought the bar in 1999. According to MPR News (2018-01-14), the original Nye's closed in April 2016 when its building was sold to make way for the M on Hennepin apartment development. The Current reported on 2017-11-10 that the same owners planned to reopen a smaller piano bar called Nye's in the same spot on Hennepin Avenue. That venue, now operating as Nye's Bar, does not serve food and centers on a piano-and-cocktail format rather than the original supper-club menu. Google Places lists Nye's Bar as operational, and its website was live at a 2026-09-08 check.
