Is Phish Heads (Phish Tales) Still Open? Bar Rescue Update (Lake City, FL)

Phish Heads, a Florida couple's bar in Lake City, was featured on the Bar Rescue episode "Phishing for Answers," which aired June 24, 2018. The episode showed the bar suffering after years of mismanagement by the owners' son, leaving the business with a stale menu, disorganized service, and slipping sales. Jon Taffer brought in mixologist Mia Mastroianni and culinary expert Aaron McCargo Jr. to rebuild the drink program and kitchen menu from the ground up, retrained staff on service standards, and renamed the business Phish Tales as part of the relaunch, a lighter update of the original name rather than a full rebrand.

The name change stuck, and the bar has operated as Phish Tales in the years since. According to Reality TV Updates, sales rose by more than 30 percent following the rescue, and the bar built a reputation locally as a steady seafood and American-food destination. The business now operates as "Phish Tales Bar & Grill" at 1445 SW Main Blvd in Lake City, per its own website and multiple local business directories, and maintains an active presence with strong review volume on consumer platforms. A Yelp listing for Phish Tales at that address shows the page updated in July 2026 with 76 reviews, indicating a currently maintained business listing rather than an abandoned one.

The strongest available evidence is a single updated business listing, rather than two independently dated sources or an official statement from the ownership. Overall, Phish Heads is one of the show's clearer rescue successes: the owners kept the show's updated name, the reported sales increase held up well beyond the relaunch window, and the bar continues to operate today under the Phish Tales name at its original Lake City address, with current-year listing activity supporting ongoing operation.
