Mystery Diners' Jan. 6, 2014 episode "Tastes Like Chicken" (Season 5, Episode 1) featured Source, a vegan restaurant in San Francisco. According to an episode overview on TheTVDB, the owner contacted Charles Stiles after growing concerned that meat was being served inside his vegan restaurant; the sources reviewed for this entry did not include a full recap of the on-air investigation's findings. Source, which according to The Veracious Vegan blog opened on Division Street in March 2011, later closed: a HappyCow listing marks the closure as confirmed in January 2015, and a Yelp listing updated July 2026 still shows the business as closed.
Wikipedia's article on the series, citing its sources, notes that the show carries a credits disclaimer stating that events may be re-enacted for dramatic purposes, and cites a television critic who described the show's scenarios as implausible and its resolutions as staged. The website and address Google Places matched to "Source SF" on file, at 909 Montgomery St., belong to an unrelated commercial construction company that also uses the name Source; this entry instead uses Source restaurant's 11 Division St. address, standardized through the Census Bureau's geocoder.
