Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited Sterle's Slovenian Country House in Cleveland, Ohio, in the episode "Pizza, Pork & Paprikash," which aired 2010-01-11. The segment highlighted the restaurant's Slovenian country-house cooking, including its paprikash and other Eastern European specialties, served alongside live polka entertainment. Sterle's was founded in 1954 by Frank Sterle, an immigrant from Ljubljana, Slovenia, and operated for more than 60 years at 1401 East 55th Street. According to NEOtrans, a fire broke out in the vacant former restaurant building on 2022-11-22, and by January 2023 large sections of its roof and walls had collapsed; the remaining structure was demolished in the final week of January 2023. NEOtrans reported again on 2026-03-16 that the site is being redeveloped into Living at 55, a 63-unit, income-restricted senior-housing project backed by a $21 million investment.
