What happened after Bar Rescue?

On the "Drunk & Dirty Dolls" episode of Bar Rescue (aired November 3, 2013), consultant Jon Taffer visited The Alibi, a motorcycle-themed bar in Las Vegas that owner Artie Coury had operated since 1998. After a serious health setback, Coury pulled back from daily oversight, and standards slipped: bartenders drank behind the bar during shifts, an inflatable novelty doll sat on a barstool, ice was not changed regularly, and kitchen equipment had heavy grease buildup. The bar carried close to $200,000 in debt. Taffer brought in mixologist Mia Mastroianni and chef Nick Liberato to retrain staff on drink recipes, ice handling, and food safety basics, and ran an initial service test that exposed poorly made cocktails and disorganized service; a bartender was sent home for intoxication during the test.

After training on female-oriented cocktails and simplified, neighborhood-appropriate food, and with kitchen equipment professionally cleaned, Taffer rebranded the bar as Garnet Lounge for the relaunch, aiming the concept at a broader, more female customer base than the original biker-bar identity. At the relaunch, mostly female customers turned out, and manager Joey was given expanded authority. Producers reported a 20% increase in sales at the standard six-week follow-up. That increase did not resolve the bar's underlying debt. Owner Artie Coury posted a message on the bar's Facebook page on December 31, 2013 stating the business would close, citing economic conditions and changes in the bar industry, with a final night of service held on New Year's Eve.

Two Yelp reviews posted around the time of closure were split: one described a positive final visit, and another described inconsistent drink preparation during a stress-test-adjacent period. As of a 2023 documented check of the address, the former Alibi/Garnet Lounge location at 1690 N Decatur Blvd, Las Vegas, was occupied by a different, unrelated bar/casino business.
