What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5) episode "The Crown Inn, Aldbourne" aired June 5, 2018. According to TheTVDB's episode entry, the Crown Inn in the Wiltshire village of Aldbourne was run by Alan, a 69-year-old who had hoped the pub would fund his retirement. Instead he had ended up working all hours without making a profit. The entry says host Alex Polizzi was shocked by what she found and refused to check in as a guest.

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) branch for Swindon and North Wiltshire lists the Crown on The Square, SN8 2DU, in a database entry last updated February 17, 2026 and surveyed February 7, 2026. It gives hours of noon to 11:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, noon to 12:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and noon to 11 p.m. on Sunday, with food served at lunchtime and in the evening. TableAgent's page for The Crown Inn in Aldbourne, checked October 19, 2026, listed a Christmas Eve dinner session from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and a lunch session from noon to 3 p.m. on December 24, 2026, with a special access code required for booking.

OpenTable lists the pub as The Crown at Aldbourne with a Marlborough, Wiltshire address at SN8 2DU. It describes a community pub with regular events, live music and accommodation, and shows a 4.5 rating from 17 reviews; the reviews it displays are dated between February and June 2022. None of the pages checked names the current licensee or says when Alan left, so this entry makes no claim about who runs the pub today.
