What happened after Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares?
The Glass House was a restaurant in Ambleside, in England's Lake District, and the second episode of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, which Channel 4 aired on 2004-05-04. TheTVDB's episode listing names the owner as Neil Farrell and describes him as close to tears as the business struggled. Wikipedia's episode summary says the building, the location and the tourist trade were strengths, while the food was poor and the kitchen was in bad condition. The summary describes an inexperienced owner and a head chef who needed to be pushed.
Gordon Ramsay's rescue, as Wikipedia summarizes it, began in the kitchen. Staff cleaned and repainted it alongside Ramsay, and the menu was simplified and revamped. The head chef nearly lost his job after a rough early service, and the owner gave him one more chance. The summary mentions no change of name. For the relaunch, the head chef led the kitchen through a service on the simplified menu.
A return visit about a month later, according to Wikipedia, found the food and menu better still and the owner and chef getting along. The follow-up episode, "The Glass House Revisited," aired on 2005-06-21. TheTVDB lists it as a visit where some unexpected departures had taken place, and Wikipedia says standards had mostly held, with Ramsay criticizing some slipping standards that were quickly corrected. Wikipedia adds that two kitchen staff members were later hired by Ramsay for his own restaurants.

Reality TV Revisited, a show-tracking site, reported in an undated update that the Glass House closed in March 2014 and that the owner reopened the building as The Fulling Mill. CAMRA's WhatPub listing for Rydal Road, Ambleside, last updated 2026-10-09, names the Glasshouse Restaurant and the Fulling Mill as former names of the building, which reopened in July 2020 as a pub called The Flying Fleece; the tracker says the pub is run by new owners.
"The Glass House Revisited," the fifth episode of the second series of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, aired on Channel 4 on 2005-06-21 and returned to the Ambleside restaurant first shown on 2004-05-04. TheTVDB's listing says Ramsay went back to the Glass House Restaurant in Ambleside, where some unexpected departures had taken place.
According to Wikipedia's article on the series, standards had mostly held since the original rescue, in which the kitchen had been cleaned and repainted and the menu simplified and revamped. Ramsay criticized the head chef for letting standards slip in some areas, and the chef corrected them quickly. Wikipedia adds that two of the kitchen staff were later hired by Ramsay for his own restaurants.
The original episode, per the same article, had shown a building, location and tourist trade that were strengths, held back by poor food and a kitchen in bad condition; the revisit is described as a check that those fixes had lasted.
