What happened after Man v. Food?
Man v. Food's Chicago episode featured the Silver Palm, a restaurant built around a stationary 1947 dining car that once ran the New York-to-Miami rail route, spotlighting its Three Little Pigs sandwich, a pork-ham-bacon combination previously praised by the late Anthony Bourdain. Owners David and Jackie Gevercer ran the Silver Palm at 768 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago's West Town for 16 years before closing it in 2018, citing the changing West Town business landscape, according to Block Club Chicago. Gregg Weinstein and Kevin Killerman bought the property, along with the companion Matchbox cocktail bar, in 2020, and Block Club Chicago reported that they opened a different business, the tiki bar Tiki Tiki at the Silver Palm, in part of the space in 2023, with plans for a cocktail bar in the original railcar. Local writer Dave Hoekstra reported that David Gevercer died in early 2026.
