Is Throwbacks Still Open? Bar Rescue Update (Sanford, FL)

Throwbacks, a bar in historic downtown Sanford, Florida, was featured on Bar Rescue in the episode 'Game Over,' which aired 2022-06-12 during the show's eighth season. Following the format used throughout the series, Jon Taffer's team assessed the bar's operations, drink program, and layout before making changes ahead of a relaunch. A Yelp listing for 'Throwbacks Sanford,' updated in September 2026, describes a retro-themed bar at 418 Sanford Ave offering free-play arcade games, board games, skee ball, and a photo booth, alongside a food menu built around chicken wings and a drink list of craft beer, wine, and cocktails.

Other current listings found for the business, including a Sanford Main Street directory page, gave hours of Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. The Yelp listing also described weekly events including Thursday karaoke, a Sunday beer-pong tournament, and televised sports including international soccer and NFL games, consistent with an actively operating business rather than a dormant listing. A Google Places record checked on 2026-09-08 listed the business as operational at the same address under the name 'Throwbacks Sanford,' matching the name shown in the Yelp listing and only minimally different from the name used on the show ('Throwbacks'). The website on file for the business is a Facebook page rather than a standalone site; that page was not independently reviewed as current-state evidence for this record beyond the Places listing and the other directory pages checked.

No reporting was found describing a closure, rename, or change of ownership at the Sanford Ave location since the 2022 episode. One search was used for this record, which returned the Yelp listing, the Sanford Main Street page, and social-media accounts for the business. The clearest current-state evidence available is a dated review-site listing, rather than the business's own website content or a second, independently dated confirmation, notwithstanding how recently that listing was updated.
