What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives featured Vinny's Bakery in the "Sandwich Showcase" episode, which aired February 22, 2019, highlighting the bakery's Cuban sandwiches and daily-baked breads, cookies, and desserts. Vinny's Bakery and Cafe operated at 1107 W Lewis St in Pasco, Washington, run by fourth-generation baker Vinicio "Vinny" Marin Gomez. According to TripleDLife's restaurant fan site, the bakery permanently closed on April 25, 2023. A GoFundMe campaign posted May 10, 2023 by organizers Jean Ryckman and Felix Vargas said the state had closed the bakery over unpaid taxes after Gomez, recovering from surgery, returned to find the business's bills unpaid, and sought $69,000 to help him reopen. Google Places likewise lists the bakery as permanently closed. The bakery had built a following across the Tri-Cities region during its run, known for scratch-made breads, cookies, and desserts alongside its signature Cuban sandwich.
