What Happened to Boteco After Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives? (Austin, TX)

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Season 29 Austin, Texas

Current status

Closed

As of October 2026, Boteco has closed — confirmed via tripledlife.com, September 21, 2026.

What the source shows: TripleDLife's dedicated Boteco listing (updated 2026-07-29) explicitly states 'Permanently Closed'; the business's former own domain (botecoatx.com) has been taken over by an unrelated third-party gambling site, consistent with a lapsed/abandoned domain. Yelp's listing (updated July 2026, 463 reviews) carries no explicit closed tag, but the two independent closure signals (TripleDLife + domain lapse) outweigh the mere absence of a Yelp closed flag. What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited Boteco in the "Southern to South American" episode, which aired March 8, 2019, spotlighting the food truck's Brazilian street food, including feijoada, pao de queijo, and coxinha. Boteco was a Brazilian food truck, running since 2011, parked at 1720 Barton Springs Rd in Austin, Texas, and had drawn attention for cooking a private birthday meal for Matthew McConaughey's wife. According to TripleDLife's restaurant fan site, Boteco is marked permanently closed, and Google Places lists the same address as permanently closed. Some third-party listing and review pages still display older hours and review counts for the truck, but no fresher dated source was found showing it currently operating, so those older listings do not change the status recorded here.
