What happened after Best Thing I Ever Ate?
The Best Thing I Ever Ate's 'As Good as Mom's' episode featured B&H Dairy, the East Village luncheonette known for cheese blintzes, borscht, and matzo brei served at a 1940s-style lunch counter. According to Wikipedia's B&H Dairy entry, the restaurant opened in 1938 at 127 2nd Avenue and is now owned by Fawzy and Alexandra Abdelwahed. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported on 2024-03-06 that B&H had recently updated the look of its old-school storefront facade, following a 2022 preservation grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express. That March 2024 article is the most recent dated coverage located; it describes the restaurant as still operating at that time but predates this project's 2026-currency bar, and no 2026-dated source could be reached to confirm the restaurant's present status given the exhausted search quota.
