What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (Food Network) featured Bun 'N Barrel in the season 12 episode "Grillin' and Smokin'," which aired September 12, 2011; host Guy Fieri highlighted the restaurant's spicy burger made with Thai chili sauce. Bun 'N Barrel was a barbecue-and-burger restaurant at 1150 Austin Hwy in San Antonio, Texas, that had operated for more than 70 years and had also appeared in the 1997 film Selena, according to the San Antonio Current. The San Antonio Current reported on July 7, 2022 that the restaurant's front door carried a sign describing the closure as temporary the previous day, while its Google Business listing already showed it as permanently closed. Yelp's listing for the address, last updated in July 2026, still lists Bun 'N Barrel as permanently closed, and no current website or phone connection for the business could be located.
